Food production is a sector of activity with enormous responsibility due to its potential impacts on public health. Consumers and legislation are demanding increasingly higher standards of quality and safety, therefore its implementation involves a complex combination of norms, requirements, and best practices.

At the same time, issues related to environmental conservation and animal health and welfare have gained more relevance. Therefore, the Group's companies are increasingly focusing on every step of their value chain, from production, transport, processing, and delivery to the final consumer, to ensure compliance with ESG requirements and provide consumers with a balanced and healthy diet, without compromising any of the other areas.

It was the first half of the 20th century when Moaçor emerged. ANIMAL PRODUCTION

The animal production sector is an essential pillar of the food system, playing a vital role in food security, agricultural sustainability and the dynamics and development of rural areas. According to FAO data, this sector contributes 40% of the global value of agricultural production in developed countries and 20% in developing countries and provides about 34% of global food protein supply. Thus, Finançor sees the development of its activities in this sector with seriousness, responsibility and with awareness of its ability to contribute to food and nutritional security and to agricultural development.

Within the Finançor Group, activities are developed in various subsectors of animal production.

 

Noviçor is a company dedicated to fattening steers on pasture and as calves. It operates in the markets of the Azores, Madeira, and mainland Portugal. Its activity is essential to dairy farms, as the purchase of calves frees up surplus animals on the farms and enhances beef production.

Altiprado is a dairy farm with a total area of ​​550 hectares, with 200 hectares of forest and 350 hectares dedicated to milk production through pasture and forage production (grass silage and corn silage).

One of the largest pig farms in Portugal, producing breeding and fattening pigs using best environmental and animal welfare practices. It is self-sufficient in terms of electricity, generated from a biogas unit, and also produces organic fertilizer through vermicomposting, making use of all the waste produced on the farm.

PROVIPOR is a company dedicated to pig farming, specifically pig fattening, and also to the treatment of livestock effluents through a lagoon system. It is operationally integrated with Agraçor.

Poultry farming is an activity of great strategic importance. Therefore, we operate in an integrated and complementary way in this sector. For meat production, the cycle begins on the breeding hen farm, where eggs are produced for incubation in our state-of-the-art multiplication center. After inspection by the veterinary department, all chicks are sent to the fattening phase. We also produce eggs for consumption on several laying hen farms. We have several production units: Fazenda do Vale Navio; Quinta do Frade e da Freira; Fazenda Portões Vermelhos; Quinta dos Beirais and Quinta da Canada da Leiteira.
